Victoria police said Brendan Nugent has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, intentionally causing serious injury and a Commonwealth offence involving harm to a public official. Police said the attack would be alleged to have been targeted. Nugent was held overnight and was due in Wangaratta magistrates court at 9.30am. UK MP Kim Leadbeater said the attack could prompt Australia to find common ground and reconsider its political culture.
