PoliticsAlberta voters reject separation from Canada, early results show

In Alberta’s first referendum on separation, early results showed about 76 percent of more than one million counted votes favored staying in Canada, while 23 percent backed starting a process that could lead to separation. The vote was not a direct independence referendum, but could have set the province on a path to a future vote.
