China’s long-term care insurance pilot, launched in 2016, covered nearly 300 million people and benefited more than 3.3 million by the end of 2025, cutting beneficiaries’ care costs by about 12,000 yuan a year on average. China plans to extend the pilots nationwide during 2026–2030 and improve care services and support.
