ScienceBatteries help cut emissions—but how can their own emissions be reduced?

A study led by Haiwei Zhou at the University of Melbourne examined emissions from lithium-ion battery production. Researchers estimate these currently make up 0.18 percent of annual greenhouse gas emissions, but could rise more than tenfold by 2050. More efficient mining, refining and manufacturing, along with recycling, could reduce them.
