CultureSergei Loznitsa’s ‘Imperium’ wins best film at BFI London Film Festival
Sergei Loznitsa’s documentary “Imperium” won best film at the British Film Institute’s 70th London Film Festival. Made from archival footage shot by Italian documentary filmmakers in the Soviet Union in the 1970s, it depicts a Red Square parade and everyday life and celebrations elsewhere. The jury said it presents a fresh perspective on Soviet life before the country’s collapse.
