French President Emmanuel Macron condemned what he called authorities’ failures in anticipation and intelligence after nationwide cost-of-living protests turned violent over the weekend. He rejected Interior Minister Laurent Nunez’s resignation, despite opposition calls for his removal. The Interior Ministry said nearly 2,400 people were arrested and almost 1,000 police and gendarmes injured.
