This year’s Chongyang, or Double Ninth, Festival falls on Oct. 18, the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. Folklore links the number nine with “jiu,” meaning a long and healthy life. Traditions include climbing high, viewing chrysanthemums, drinking chrysanthemum wine and honoring elders.
