EconomyBank of England governor walks out of IMF meeting in protest at Russia
Andrew Bailey joined finance leaders from France, Germany and Scandinavian and Baltic countries in leaving an IMF session in Bangkok as Russian finance minister Anton Siluanov spoke. Germany’s Bundesbank president said nearly half the delegates joined the walkout. A European diplomat said relations with Russia could not be normalised while the Ukraine war remained existential for Europe.
