IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said low-income countries now spend 8 to 14 percent of revenue on debt repayments as they face high inflation, rising borrowing costs and price shocks from war spillovers. She said the fund has a responsibility to help poorer nations manage debt, and pledged firm backing for Iraq’s requested loan programme while talks with Lebanon advance.
