WorldTokyo asks US to limit troops’ movement outside bases during drills
Japan’s Defense Ministry has asked that US military personnel spend as little time as possible outside their facilities during the Keen Sword drills, starting October 19. The request is linked to the recent arrest of a US marine on Okinawa on charges of murdering and robbing a local resident. About 45,000 Japanese and 12,000 US personnel are expected to take part, alongside forces from seven other countries.
