PoliticsEU to launch Arctic surveillance program in 2027
The EU plans to begin an Arctic surveillance program in 2027, Bloomberg reported, citing the bloc’s new Arctic strategy. The initiative is intended to improve regional ties and counter growing US and Russian ambitions. It may use the EU’s Copernicus and Galileo satellites to detect threats on land and at sea. Russian official Vladislav Maslennikov said the EU was signaling an escalatory course in the Arctic.
