ScienceChina expands local hybrid rice seed production overseas
China is widening overseas hybrid rice research and seed production to raise yields and support local cultivation. Varieties developed at the China-Madagascar Joint Laboratory average 7.5 metric tons per hectare, about 2.7 times the yield of local conventional varieties. China also promotes cooperation through seed exports, research centers and training.
