A perceptible earthquake in Kamchatka was revised from an initial magnitude estimate of 6.5 to 6.9. Its epicenter was 156 kilometers southwest of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 138 kilometers, and residents there felt it as a magnitude-5 quake. Some people evacuated their apartments as tremors shook the area for about a minute.
