CultureFour Chinese sites added to World Heritage Irrigation Structures list
Four irrigation projects nominated by China have joined the World Heritage Irrigation Structures list, raising the country’s recognized total to 46. The 2026 selections were announced at an International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage meeting in Marseille. The projects are in Henan, Gansu, Jiangxi and Fujian, and date from periods spanning the Qin to Southern Song dynasties.
