ScienceGiant new fungus species discovered in China's Yunnan

Chinese scientists found a giant fungus in Yunnan and identified a new species, Dianjunus rex, as the sole known member of a new fungal family, Dianjunaceae. Its fruiting bodies reach 20 to 50 centimeters tall; the largest specimen weighed 2.2 kilograms, a record for the fungal phylum Ascomycota.
