PoliticsEU leaders fail to agree on 2028-2034 budget worth 1.76 trillion euros

EU leaders did not reach agreement on the union’s 1.76-trillion-euro 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework amid sharp divisions between net contributors and beneficiaries. The European Commission’s proposal was rejected, while a plan to cut 140 billion euros lacked sufficient support. Talks will resume at an extraordinary meeting on November 26.
