The cracked Liberty Bell has not rung in 180 years, but scientists are exploring what it may have sounded like. Penn State researchers modeled its acoustic properties using data from a replica. The work was presented at an Acoustical Society of America meeting in Philadelphia earlier this year and later published in Physics Today.
