China’s National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center says the ongoing super El Niño is expected to affect the country through summer 2027. It is intensifying rapidly and is forecast to peak in November or December 2026; coastal sea temperatures are expected to remain generally above average this winter and through spring and summer 2027.
