EconomyWhy are prepared-food portions shrinking in Russia? Rising costs may be only part of the answer
Prepared-food portions in Russia shrank 10.3% over the past year to 266 grams, according to analytics firm Ntec. Rising costs, thin margins, fierce competition and weakening demand make it harder for producers to raise prices, prompting them to reduce portions. Consumers are also opting more often for small snacks; their sales value rose 48% in the first half of 2026.
