HealthFlu activity in Singapore highest since 2024; haze may worsen symptoms

The latest weekly figures show influenza in 44% of respiratory samples tested in Singapore, more than double the level at the start of August, before haze first reached the unhealthy range. Doctors say poorer air quality can aggravate patients’ symptoms. Findings indicate that each 10-point increase in fine particulate matter is associated with about 3% more emergency visits for respiratory conditions.
