PoliticsIsrael bars Arab parties and candidates from election; Ofer Cassif calls ban unlawful

Israel’s Central Elections Committee voted to disqualify the United Arab List and Joint List from next month’s election and bar Sami Abu Shehadeh and Ofer Cassif. They were accused of supporting terrorism and denying Israel as a Jewish state. The Joint List said Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben-Gvir were trying to deter 1.2 million Palestinian citizens of Israel from voting. The decisions still require final approval by Israel’s Supreme Court.
