Canada’s prime minister is turning towards the European Union as President Trump’s threats and tariffs push Ottawa to seek other allies and markets. Mark Carney told the European Parliament that closer ties with the bloc could prevent anyone from controlling Canada’s markets or undermining its sovereignty. He has also urged “middle powers” to act together against coercion by stronger states.
