Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney took an indirect jab at US President Donald Trump, saying closer Canada-EU ties were not intended to create a new geopolitical bloc “with better manners.” His remarks followed an EU proposal for Canada to become its first “associate member,” a nonexistent designation that nevertheless triggered another tariff threat from Trump.
