PoliticsEU invites Canada to become first ‘associate member’

The European Union has offered Canada an unprecedented arrangement to become the bloc’s first associate member. President Trump dismissed the proposal as “laughable” and warned of steep new tariffs if it goes ahead. Francesco Rizzuto of Liverpool John Moores University weighs in.
