ScienceMonsoon Rise Expedition: Scientists find microplastics 5,000m below Indian Ocean surface

An OceanX and National University of Singapore expedition detected microplastics thousands of metres deep in the Indian Ocean, with larger pieces also found on the seabed. The findings echo discoveries from other missions to the deepest marine ecosystems and raise questions about how the material got there and what it could mean for marine life.
