Europe recorded its busiest summer air traffic ever, averaging 35,959 flights a day despite the war in the Middle East. Flights to Albania, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia rose sharply as Europeans opted for holiday destinations closer to home.
