World‘Never mistake our generosity for weakness,’ Chrétien says at 9/11 memorial

Former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien told “our American friends” that Canadians are tolerant and kind, but said those qualities should not be mistaken for a lack of determination or softness. He spoke in Gander, N.L., at a ceremony marking 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, attended by U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra.
