CultureTunisia’s iconic Sidi Bou Said town added to UNESCO World Heritage list

UNESCO recognised Tunisia’s Sidi Bou Said as a World Heritage site in July, opening a new phase for preserving the historic tourist town. The designation could help it address erosion, including damage from January’s floods, while promoting its lesser-known Sufi mystical traditions through Kharja ceremonies held from mid-August to the end of September.
