Scientists are still investigating what triggered a massive glacier collapse in Nepal. Ice plunged as much as 1,300m into the valley below, causing a destructive flood. University of Dundee glaciologist Simon Cook said a warming event and snowmelt may have contributed, but stressed that the theory remains speculative and warned that continuing risks could threaten rescue efforts.
