WorldAnalysis: Iran’s new military appointments signal an offensive strategy

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has moved six senior military commanders into new positions. Ali Abdollahi was named chief of staff of the Armed Forces, while Ahmad Vahidi was appointed commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Hossein Taeb was selected to lead the Basij paramilitary force. Former IRGC chief Mohsen Rezaei was also made Khamenei’s representative to the Supreme National Security Council. The appointments are being analysed as a sign of an offensive strategy.
