WorldColombia earthquake kills at least 111 as rescuers search for survivors

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake has killed at least 111 people in western Colombia. Buildings collapsed in the shaking, leaving some people trapped beneath rubble as rescue teams search for survivors. The epicentre was near San Jose del Palmar in the Choco region, about 400 kilometres west of Bogota. The quake was felt across western Colombian towns and cities, as well as in neighbouring Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela. Cali, one of Colombia’s largest cities, was among the hardest-hit areas, with damage reported in parts of the city.
