ScienceEurope Looks Up for First Total Solar Eclipse Since 1999

A total solar eclipse is set to pass over Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and northern Spain on Wednesday, August 12. It will be the first total eclipse visible from central or western Europe since 1999. Royal Observatory Greenwich astronomer Imo Bell says the event will give spectators a rare chance to witness totality. It will also provide scientists with an opportunity to examine the Sun’s corona.
