WorldMajor wildfire near Italy’s Lake Garda forces evacuations

A major wildfire erupted late Friday in woodland near Lake Garda in northern Italy. The flames spread through the hilly Tignale area and threatened nearby homes, about five holiday houses and a holiday complex. Authorities evacuated roughly 200 people from the vicinity. About 80 personnel, including Carabinieri, civil protection workers and firefighters, were sent to battle the blaze, which burned around 4,500 square meters.
