Thailand says it is ready to begin a new phase in economic relations with Myanmar. It is leading efforts to bring the war-torn neighbour back into the ASEAN fold. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said Bangkok would seek stronger trade and energy cooperation while welcoming Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing. Thomas Kean of the International Crisis Group told CNA’s Asia First that the meeting carries significance beyond the immediate discussions.
