Workers’ Party MP Kenneth Tiong has proposed creating a special zone around Nanyang Technological University to test assumptions about land pricing. The WP says Singapore’s land model increases costs and constrains innovation and entrepreneurship. The People’s Action Party counters that businesses already receive extensive support to manage those costs. The parties also differ on whether pricing or leadership and capability-building is the larger obstacle to entrepreneurship.
