Singapore’s Parliament has approved an amended Workers’ Party motion on building an economy of the future after a debate lasting nearly nine hours. The discussion examined how Singapore should position itself amid an increasingly uncertain global environment. Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said the government and the Workers’ Party share considerable common ground but hold fundamentally different views of Singapore’s economic model. The WP urged a move away from what it called an overly multinational-company-centric approach.
