PoliticsSingapore Parliament backs amended Workers’ Party motion after nine-hour debate

Singapore’s Parliament voted on Wednesday to support an amended motion calling for a more equal and inclusive economy. The motion says there should be room for both local companies and global enterprises. The original proposal was introduced by Workers’ Party MPs Kenneth Tiong and Jamus Lim, setting out the opposition party’s vision for the future economy and its own economic playbook. The amended version passed after a nine-hour debate.
