WorldRelentless heatwave grips China, Japan and South Korea

A persistent heatwave is disrupting everyday life across parts of China, Japan and South Korea. The conditions are creating urgent pressure on authorities to respond. Temperatures in northwestern China could rise above 40°C, prompting some cities to open air raid shelters as air-conditioned cooling spaces. South Korea has extended its highest heat alert to 43% of the greater Seoul area. At least 19 people have died in the country, while more than 2,000 have been hospitalized with heat-related conditions.
