PoliticsIsrael election: Netanyahu bloc leads with about 80% of votes counted, election committee says

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc remains ahead after more than 80% of votes were counted. The electoral authority projects 54 seats for his camp and 49 for its main rival, Gadi Eisenkot. Neither reaches the 61 seats needed for a majority in the 120-seat Knesset. It is Israel’s first election since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack three years ago.
