EconomySingapore unveils major energy expansion plan with new power plants and cleaner electricity

Singapore is launching its biggest energy infrastructure expansion in decades to meet rising electricity demand. Five new gas-fired plants are due to operate by 2031, lifting generation capacity by 26%. The plans also call for a second LNG terminal, seven transmission substations, more low-carbon electricity imports, expanded solar power and three times as much energy storage by 2030.
