WorldMore than half a million protest across France as Paris sees clashes and arrests

More than 500,000 people protested across France, with reports of over 1,200 arrests. Police and demonstrators clashed for hours at Paris’s Place de la République as anger at the government became violent; stun grenades and tear gas were used. Elsewhere in the city, vehicles burned, debris littered roads and dozens of shops were vandalised. Protester Yellow Beard said they sought fiscal, social and legal justice.
