EconomyBank of America results hurt by weak trading and $1.2 billion penalty

Bank of America’s stock and fixed-income trading fell short of estimates in the third quarter. Bond-trading revenue dropped 17% to $2.55 billion, while equity-trading revenue declined 10% to $2.51 billion. A charge linked to a regulatory penalty over money laundering and sanctions violations also weighed on results.
