HealthVatican says Pope Leo had a ‘peaceful night’ after lung cancer surgery

The Vatican says Pope Leo XIV had a peaceful night in hospital after surgery on Tuesday to remove a lower lobe of his right lung. He is expected to stay at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for about a week before returning to work. The 71-year-old underwent a 90-minute operation and was later diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma.
