> Hundreds of advance polling stations have opened across Alberta for a referendum that could set the province on a path to separation. Former premiers and political rivals Rachel Notley and Jason Kenney are urging voters to keep Alberta in Canada. The report also says 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem died after falling from a roller-coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, prompting the company to temporarily close similar rides.
