> Donald Trump’s plan to import Russian diesel despite Western sanctions has drawn fierce criticism in Washington, including from Republicans. High fuel prices and the approaching midterms are pressuring his administration. His Ukraine policy has also stirred controversy, including calls for Kyiv to hold elections and claims that an energy ceasefire was announced without clear agreement from the parties.
