WorldTrump’s ‘energy ceasefire’ announcement catches Kyiv by surprise

US President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced on Sunday that an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was in effect immediately. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appeared not to have been consulted and said he was still awaiting details. The announcement followed Trump’s decision days earlier to temporarily ease US sanctions on Russian diesel, provoking outrage in Europe and Kyiv.
