> Police in India detained thousands during a crackdown on protesters demanding the country’s election commissioner resign. The Cockroach movement, which organised the demonstrations, says it will hold them daily until its demands are met. Protesters allege voter-roll revisions removed 130 million names and benefited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling party; the election commission and government deny this.
