PoliticsICE defends New York shooting as Mamdani calls for agency to be abolished

ICE agents shot and wounded Oscar Belgal during an arrest in New York City’s Marble Hill neighbourhood on Thursday afternoon. His five-year-old son, who was in the back seat, was unharmed. Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the shooting an “outrage” and said ICE “must be abolished.” ICE officials said Belgal hit two agency vehicles and drove toward officers, prompting them to fire. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin defended the operation.
