> More than 70,000 people demonstrated across France on Thursday, calling for better education and an end to police brutality. Students protested nationwide and blocked hundreds of high school entrances despite government efforts to ease a crisis lasting more than a week; deployments of riot police sometimes led to violent clashes. The interior ministry put participation at 71,500.
