> Multiple sources said Wednesday that Eritrean troops had deployed in northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region, raising fears that an internal conflict could widen into a regional war. Fighting between the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and Ethiopian federal forces began on September 23. Ethiopia accuses Eritrea of backing the rebels, and the neighbours cut diplomatic ties last week.
